Conti’s, Wendy’s Philippines put sustainability on the menu as 23 stores shift to renewable energy from ACEN RES

MAKATI CITY, Philippines – Eight8Ate Holdings Inc., the company behind Conti’s Bakeshop & Restaurant and Wendy’s Philippines, is transitioning 23 stores of its restaurant brands to 100% renewable energy through a retail electricity supply agreement with ACEN RES, the retail electricity supply arm of Ayala-led ACEN.

The transition is enabled by two government-initiated programs: the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) and Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA). RAP allows multiple customers to consolidate their energy demand to switch to the retail electricity market through their preferred supplier. RCOA, on the other hand, is a policy framework that allows qualified electricity end-users to directly source their power from licensed retail electricity suppliers rather than being captive to their local distribution utility. By taking advantage of these government programs, Conti’s and Wendy’s successfully locked in lower generation rates to optimize store operating costs.

Sourcing electricity directly from ACEN RES guarantees that renewable energy supports the daily operations of these food brands. This strategic shift makes the local market less vulnerable to global disruptions in imported fuel prices and paves the way for a sustainable energy future.
