CEBU CITY — Cermatex Manufacturing Corporation, a casual footwear manufacturer based in Mandaue City, proudly commits to a sustainable future by sourcing its electricity exclusively from renewable energy. Teaming up with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the Ayala group’s retail electricity supply unit, the company has shifted to a cleaner energy approach for its operations.
Under the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program, Cermatex has taken advantage of the opportunity to select its power supply options, choosing to harness renewable energy from ACEN’s portfolio of solar, wind, and geothermal power plants. This shift aligns with the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and marks a significant milestone in its journey toward sustainability.
“We are delighted to welcome Cermatex Manufacturing Corporation as part of the growing roster of businesses in Cebu embracing renewable energy. ACEN RES is honored to be chosen as their energy partner, supporting them in their commitment to a sustainable and eco-friendly future,” commented Ela Mina, Assistant Vice President for Commercial Operations at ACEN.
Timothy Joseph Yu, Assistant Administrative Officer at Cermatex, emphasized the company’s broader vision, stating, “Our commitment extends beyond being a manufacturer of casual footwear. As a ‘reliable walking companion’ to our customers, we recognize the importance of sustainability. Choosing renewable energy through ACEN RES is our inaugural step towards securing a sustainable future for our company.”
“Renewable energy is a step in the right direction, towards a broader goal of a self-sustaining country, free of foreign dependency,” he added.
Established in 1993, Cermatex has become a significant player in the casual footwear industry, known for its diverse styles available in hundreds of stores across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
