Retail Competition and Open Access allows qualified businesses to choose their electricity supplier, and switch to renewable energy
Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) is a framework under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (EPIRA) that opens the electricity market to competition. It allows qualified businesses to move beyond their distribution utility and contract directly with a licensed Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) for their power supply.
Businesses with at least 100kW monthly energy demand may participate in RCOA and source electricity through the Contestable Retail Electricity Market (CREM), where suppliers compete to offer more competitive rates.
