06 September 2024 – Ayala Group’s AC Health, a leading provider of high-quality healthcare solutions, through Healthway Medical Network, is proud to announce its commitment to sustainability through the adoption of renewable energy for its medical facilities.
AC Health is in partnership with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the retail electricity unit of Ayala Corporation’s ACEN, to transition six of its Healthway Medical Network facilities to renewable energy. The facilities will now be powered by ACEN’s diverse portfolio of wind, solar, and geothermal energy sources, furthering their commitment to sustainability and quality care.
The first facilities to make the shift to renewable energy include Healthway QualiMed Hospital Santa Rosa and Healthway QualiMed Manila, in addition to Healthway Cancer Care Hospital. Located in Arca South, Taguig, Healthway Cancer Care Hospital is the Philippines’ first specialized cancer care facility and is EDGE Certified. The other Healthway Medical Network facilities that have also transitioned are Healthway QualiMed Hospital San Jose Del Monte (Bulacan), Healthway Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center, and FEU – NRMF Medical Center in Quezon City.
“This partnership with ACEN RES marks a significant milestone for AC Health. We are both committed to innovating in our respective industries with sustainable practices that aid in our mission of making healthcare more affordable and accessible for Filipinos. By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also contributing to a healthier planet for future generations. We are also continuously improving our integrated waste management practices to further reduce our environmental impact across all aspects of our operations.” said Paolo Borromeo, President and Chief Executive Officer of AC Health
The decision to shift to renewables reinforces AC Health’s dedication to both patient well-being and environmental responsibility, especially since environmental pollution and climate change have been linked to several health concerns. According to the World Health Organization, climate change poses a threat to human health, driving diseases such as asthma, heart disease, and mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, and cancer.
Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN, said: “We are proud to be a partner in sustainability with A.T. Yuchengco Centre. This collaboration underscores the importance of the commercial real estate sector in enabling the energy transition. ACEN is committed to supporting organizations like A.T. Yuchengco Centre in reaching their sustainability goals, contributing to a greener and more resilient future for the Philippines.”
The partnership between AC Health through HMN and ACEN RES highlights the Ayala Group’s commitment to sustainability. By powering its healthcare facilities with clean energy, the Ayala Group demonstrates its leadership in driving positive environmental impact while delivering world-class healthcare services.
